Thailand Tourist Visa

thailand tourist visaA Thai tourist visa is usually only valid for 3 months per entry however you are able to apply for a multiple entry tourist visa which contains 4 entries. They are however becoming rare. Some Thai consulates especially the consulates in Asia will only issue you with less than four entries; for instance, Penang, in Malaysia, usually only allows three entries. A tourist visa will set you back at least 1,000 baht ($25) per entry at the consulate and must be applied for at a Thai consulate outside of the Kingom of Thailand.

The Thai tourist visa is the most common form of visa used for entering Thailand. Upon arrival in Thailand, Immigration will stamp your passport for a stay of 60 days.  The stamp is called an "extension of stay."  This extension can however be extended at any Immigration office inside Thailand for additional 30 days for 1,900 baht.  An unused entry on your visa entry allows you to come back into Thailand at any border Immigration checkpoint and get another 60-day stamp without the necessity of re-applying for a new visa.
